Not only are things heating up in the United States of America but as some of you may know, many other Countries are working on CBD and /or THC Programs in order to benefit their community. To date, I have been lucky enough to consult on a few international projects over the last 2 years. For those of you that follow me on Instagram, my international travel isnt all pleasure, a lot of times it involves work. While my love for travel has grown, my first love is cannabis, and its VERY exciting to be able to work Internationally in the Industry I love. Below Ive posted some great information about New Zealand Hemp/Cannabis program, if you are looking for more information feel free to download our New Zealand white paper here. And, for those of you that are looking for travel recommendations for New Zealand, here are a few recommendations:
- QT Queenstown is great place to stay if you are looking for Yoga, good food, shopping and amazing views.
- Nelson is a quaint little (non-touristy) town with an amazing Wellness Dispensary
- From Nelson we went to The Resurgence, an ecolodge on 50acres, near Abel Tasman. We stayed in a log cabin and there is plenty of hiking/exploring to do right on the property.
- Rotorua is smelly but its def worth visiting if you are into Spas. I visited a few Geothermal bath houses and bought a bunch of products at a Polynesian Spa.
- Auckland is a great place to do business and for a night out on the town!
Either way, New Zealand is not only a great place to visit but an amazing place for business. Read on for more intimation about the New Zealand Hemp/Cannabis program.
What Are New Zealand’s Current Cannabis Laws?
On October 20, 2017, New Zealand’s prime minister, Jacinda Ardern, announced that New Zealand will hold a public referendum prior to or during the 2020 election regarding the legalization of recreational cannabis for the country.
Two months after Jacinda Ardern’s announcement, on December 20, 2017, the Misuse of Drugs (Medical Cannabis) Amendment Bill was also introduced. The Bill seeks to allow possession and use of medical cannabis for terminally ill people, establish a regulation-making power to set standards that products manufactured, imported, and supplied under license must meet, and to amend Schedule 2 of the Act so that cannabidoil (CBD) and CBD products no longer classified as controlled drugs. The Bill would also allow qualified patients to cultivate cannabis at home.
All of this proposed legislation regarding cannabis in New Zealand caused quite a stir and many people began to wonder: What are New Zealand’s current cannabis laws?
